Introducing:

MAGNETO MECHS

Our new Ultra Drift-Resistant contactless thumbstick mechanism utilizing Tunnel Magnetoresistance (TMR) sensors to achieve a faster, more stable, and near lagless linear input when compared to Hall Effect sensors.

Why TMR over Traditional / Hall Effect?

TMR thumbstick mechanisms offer several advantages over both traditional Potentiometer mechanisms and Hall Effect mechanisms.

Traditional OEM thumbstick mechanisms - the ones found in Sony and Microsoft controllers - use Potentiometers that read input values through a physical connection that wears out over time. TMR mechanisms read input values from the positioning of a magnet as it travels, with little to no mechanical wear caused by the motion.

Compared to Hall Effect mechanisms, the sensors in TMR mechs are more accurate due to the placement of the magnetic field in relation to the sensor used to register inputs. TMR also delivers superior precision and responsiveness due to a higher resolution, making them ideal for competitive play. While Hall Effect and TMR are both contactless and drift-resistant sensors, the similarities end there:

TMR = Maximum Performance.

TMR sensors are faster, generate less noise (i.e jitter), use less power, and most importantly provide superior 0-20% dead zone performance when compared to Hall Effect sensors.

What took so long?

We've been asked for a long time when we would offer contactless sensor thumbstick mechanisms, and we promise the wait has been worth it.

As the leader in controller performance modification innovation, we wanted to ensure the best experience without compromise and would not sacrifice our standards of reliability and performance just to deliver a product sooner.

Over the past year we have gone through almost every contactless sensor mechanism available on the market and did not find any that met our commitment to the most important qualities we believe matter to gamers:

  • CONSISTENCY:

Inputs must be stable and contain zero variation at all positions.

  • INPUT LATENCY:

The thumbstick mechanism must not introduce lag to the system.

  • COMPATIBILITY:

The mechanism must be compatible with 1st-Party boards and our existing modifications.

Until Now.

In all mechanical industries that rely on accurate electronic sensors, TMR is the gold standard. So we waited for TMR technology to come in a form factor that would best allow us to integrate into an OEM mechanism to ensure component reliability and compatibility with our other thumbstick modifications.

We've said a lot about how TMR is better than Hall Effect, so let us break down how it works.

What is Tunnel Magnetoresistance?

Buckle up, cause we're going to school.

Discovered in 1991, Tunnel Magnetoresistance utilizes electron scattering via non-magnetic channels to create a contactless quantum mechanical phenomenon.

By placing a special sensor within the N+S poles of a magnetic pivot, a linear input can be captured with no lag via isolated electron scattering with little electromagnetic noise. This creates a nearly drift-proof linear thumbstick input that is more accurate than Hall Effect mechanisms.

This sensor and magnet position combination also results in better performance within the 0 - 20% input range (traditional FPS dead zones) due to the tightness of the magnetic field around the sensor. This results in a 'snappier' and more responsive feel than traditional Hall Effect mechanisms, which utilize a less optimal sensor and polarity combination.

We knew when we found a well-reputed manufacturer who had already successfully tested these mechanisms in 3rd-Party applications, we were confident we would be able to retrofit 1st-Party controllers with this established technology to present a truly next gen experience for your enjoyment.

We've been extremely excited to bring you this new modification and hope you enjoy it as much as we have.

Thank you for your patience and consideration
