Spring Update

Welcome to our Spring Update!

Before we get into the fun new projects we'll be releasing this season, there is some business we have to attend to first.

For our existing customers...

Why We are Behind:

As you may know, Battle Beaver is a young company (est. 2015) and we're still learning the ropes of online business. In 2015 we were just getting our foot in the door but in 2016, with the overwhelming support of our fans, we showed the world that we are here to stay.

We knew going into 2016 that we were going to see more business, but in the very beginning we were beset on all sides by bad luck and misfortune. For context, the training times of a Battle Beaver Technician is around one calendar year. In Feb. of 2016 we had three fully - trained technicians, and soon brought on two more people for building. This is when our delay went from bad to worse.

We started gaining serious popularity around the Spring,  fast-forward to the summer and we had brought on seven more technicians who would begin their training. Our hopes were that if we started training these new technicians in the Summer they would be ready for the holidays to at least help ease the burden. At the beginning of the Fall season we were nearly caught up to our delay but began seeing about 500 orders placed a month, which was staggering then but we had projected that by the time all of our technicians were fully trained we would be able to handle that amount of order volume.

Why the Holiday Estimate was 8 weeks:

We thought we would be able to handle a certain amount of orders and set the build time estimate accordingly. The reality was much different and set in motion the near 11 week delay we find ourselves in currently.

After one month into Fall we began to see our order volume grow quickly beyond what we had projected. What we thought were going to be 500 order months soon became 800 order months, so we figured that this was the beginning of the holiday season (our second). Preparing for an 800 order large volume, we thought we would be able to realistically ship controllers within eight weeks from when they were ordered. With Black Friday approaching, we set all of our holiday preparations up on our website and hoped for the best.

On Black Friday alone there were 200 orders placed, with orders in November counting out to be nearly 1200. We soon became very afraid of December and hired four new technicians hoping that we would be able to catch up in time, apparently we were wrong. December ended with a whopping 1,476 orders placed, officially decimating our projections and timelines by piling on an additional months worth of orders to our projections. At the beginning of this year we brought on four more technicians and here we are, completely humbled by our success and resulting failures.

We sincerely apologize to our customers who had placed their orders at this time, many of them have come forward and made us realize that we handled our notification of this delay to you in an extremely poor manner. We are still learning and growing, and we will do our best to better serve you in the future.

Please keep in mind that the eight week build time you were given when you had placed your order was an estimate. Because our business is custom and complex by nature, we would be lying to you if we were to give an exact shipping date. Many issues can arise during the building process that can delay shipping, and we will take as long as needed to correct these issues to ensure that we are shipping a quality product. While some may slip through the cracks, we do our best! We know we are asking a lot for you to trust us, but please know that we are working day and night to ship controllers as soon as possible.

Order Volume by Month:  Jan. '15 to Feb. '17

Where We are Now & Where We are Going:

At this time our biggest bottleneck right now is production. We've loaded our technician pool and they are all going through their training. Basing our projections off of 2016 Holiday season order volumes, we are planning to have a workforce that will allow us to return to our old but gold standard of a 3-5 day build time. With that being said we have not changed our build time estimate from eight weeks because our goal is to have our customers placing an order now to actually receive their order in that timeframe, so build times will only shrink from this point on.

By focusing all of our resources towards our production capabilities, we will be able to shift those resources towards all of the exciting products and ideas that we have had to pause due to the delay. The release of new products will in turn hopefully keep our production team busy so the cycle can continue.

Our support staff is hard at work answering all of your questions but please give them time to respond, they go through hundreds of emails a day so please be nice. Cursing and other rude comments hurt their feelings and caps lock is not appreciated. They will do their best to assist you in any mistakes we have made but please note that they do not build the controllers.

For customers waiting to order...

More Color. More Performance.

We've gone ahead and revamped our rear button placements so you'll find a wider combination of positions to better accommodate whatever play style works best.

You'll also find more color combinations between the shell and buttons.

As the gaming industry continues to innovate we will as well. You'll see more of what we have to offer on the 'S' controller as the year passes .

International Shipping

Recently we've had more issues than we would like concerning our shipments to customers overseas. Numerous reports of packages being stolen, run over, or lost by the post office have made us consider what would best serve you, the customer, in terms of receiving our product. Effective immediately we will only be offering Priority Mail International shipping for our customers abroad. We do understand that this option is more expensive than the First Class alternative but it will allow faster shipping, better tracking, the ability to file claims in case of lost or stolen packages, and up to $100 USD of insurance in the event of any damages incurred while in transit. We will be monitoring the feedback of this decision so please drop us a line with your thoughts.

We'll be back in the Summer with new features and products.

Until then we'll keep our nose to the grindstone and continue building controllers as quickly as possible. We appreciate all of the love and support you have shown us this past year and we'll be making sure to keep innovating the field throughout the year!
